Greater Harvest Baptist Church History

Glen Elder Baptist Church was changed to Great Harvest Ministries in June 2003 with seven organizing members. In May 2003, Minister Frances Bell and Evangelist Andrew McDaniels were voted in as Co-Pastors until the Lord blessed us with a permanent pastor. The church also had no Senior Pastor. in April 2004, Dr. Henry D. Woodson became Pastor of Great Harvest Baptist Church.

As the church grew, so did ministry work. Great Harvest conducts Sunday School and New Membership Orientaiton every Sunday. Ministries include the Youth Department, Usher Board, Youth Choir, Adult Choir, Women's Choir Ministry, Men's Brotherhood Choir, Women's and Mission Ministry, Satellite Ministry, Community Outreach Ministry, Street Witnessing Minsitry, Praise Dance Ministry, Adult, Teenage and Youth Tuesday night Bibile Study, Men's Brotherhood Ministry.

Great Harvest Baptist Church is located in a low income, south area neighborhood in Sacramento, California and has been an immovable part of the community for the past forty-two (42) years.  The church currently sits on five acres of land owned by the church.  We are a 501© (3) non-profit organization.

The church had suffered “severe setbacks between 1999 and 2003 under former pastors.  We are in the process of rebuilding as of April 2004.  Currently we have a congregation of 100 people.
