The First Family
Pastor Henry D. Woodson and Sister Ava Woodson have been united as one for thirteen (13) years. They are the very proud parents of seven children, Dwight, Chantel, Kandice, Latisha, Patricia, Jessica, John and four grandchildren.
Pastor and Sister Woodson are workers together; both love GOD and HIS people. Their lives are spent in daily service for the Lord. Sister Ava serves diligently and untiringly right by his side and renders whatever service is needed. They are an awesome team for the Lord.
Pastor Henry D. Woodson is an ordained minister of the gospel and has been teaching, preaching and counseling for over seventeen (17) years. He is currently the Pastor of the Great Harvest Baptist Church. Pastor Woodson is employed with the Elk Grove Unified School District as an Instructional Assistant working with special needs children.
Pastor Woodson is an active member of the Northern District Baptist Association, where he served as Lyceum President and a member of the Sacramento Baptist Ministers’ Conference, where he served as Corresponding Secretary.
Pastor Woodson is a graduate of Golden Gate Seminary, where he received his Pastoral Degree and completed various ministerial courses. He also attended the Mount Zion Seminary where he received his Bachelor Degree in Theology. He received his Doctor of Divinity and Doctor of Philosophy in Theology from Sacramento Progressive Universal Seminary and his PhD in Philosophy from Mount Zion Seminary.
Sister Ava Woodson is the First Lady of Great Harvest Baptist Church where she utilizes her “multi task” gift in various areas of the church. She takes God’s assignments very seriously and is not ashamed to let her light shine wherever she goes.
Ava Woodson is an active and faithful member of the Sacramento Valley Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows since 1994, having served as Financial Secretary, Annual Prayer Breakfast Coordinator and most recent Parliamentarian. She is an active member of the Northern District Baptist Association serving as the 1st Vice President of the Ushers’ Ministry. In addition she serves as the Events Coordinator for the Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows Auxiliary.
Ava Woodson has been employed in the healthcare field for 34 years in various managerial position, as well as a Notary Public within the Mercy Healthcare Sacramento system. Currently, she is employed as an Executive Coordinator for the San Francisco Corporate Offices of Catholic Healthcare West, which is the parent company of the Mercy system.
Ava Woodson is a true and humble unsung hero who enjoys working behind the scenes in getting the task done! The Lord has blessed her in so many areas. She strongly believes that anyone can be the individual that the Lord has called them to be when they stay focused and put HIM first in their every day walk.
